First Check Point . . .

The First Check Point scheme was set up in Keighley to protect householders, (especially older adults, disabled and vulnerable people) from cowboy/rogue traders, by providing a safe, secure and reliable source of tradesmen, when people need repairs, maintenance, or improvements carrying out in their home.

Why a Register?
To protect older and vulnerable people from the unscrupulous activities of “Bogus” and “Cowboy” Traders.

By maintaining a register of accredited traders we seek to ensure that all work undertaken meets a high standard.

Puts people in touch with accredited companies who do good quality work at a fair market price. Because this is not a discounted or subsidised service, they may not be the cheapest you can find, but they will do a good job and not ‘rip you off’.

How does it work?
The service is open to all individuals but is primarily aimed at elderly and other vulnerable people.

Traders on the register will be known locally and will have undertaken a number of stringent checks including:

  • References
  • Police
  • West Yorkshire Trading Standards
  • Insurance

All traders will comply with our code of practice and will guarantee their work.

Ruthless individuals often target the most vulnerable. Instead of falling prey to these people you can now contact:

First Check Point Keighley:

And ask for one of our accredited traders to contact you to discuss your needs and obtain a quotation.
